The Library of the Govt Degree College Sogam-lolab was established in 2008. The Library moved in to the present premises in 2019, built out of grants provided by the State Government. The College is located in the picturesque valley of Lolab which has also provided a number of great personalities. Maulana Anwar Shah Kashmiri, is one of the most influential personalities of great stature and a teacher of Allama Iqbal. In resolution the college authority named the library as “Al-Anwar Library”.

A College Library is a gateway to knowledge and plays an important role in building up a love for reading, research and exploration.
The College has a well-developed Library facility for the students and the staff of the college. Being a center of intellectual development and self-investigation/research, the college library has incorporated in it a lot of user oriented services like reading room facility, internet resource cell, career counseling cell, reference section, newspaper and periodical section and reprographic facility. The college library has a collection of more than 15000 books and other information sources on diverse subjects which has been acquired from time to time since its establishment. The college library follows a flexible collection development policy which is based on the feedback of students, suggestions of the teaching faculty members and case study of learning behavior of the library users.
With the increasing ICT applications in different circles of the education system the college library is also working on a comprehensive project of automation of the library housekeeping operations like acquisition, organization, and dissemination of information and user oriented services. The fully automated library management system is complete in all respect and the college library services and operations is completely working on a computer based automated system.
The College library provides student identity cards to the college students which is a prerequisite for future references and activities like use of library services, class room attendance, filling up of scholarship and examination forms, attending mid-term and final examination, participating in college seminars/debates/games and sports and other events.
The library is housed in the first floor of the main college building and is internally built to provide a wide range of services to the library users. It has one reference section, one text section, and library processing section, career counseling cell, newspaper and periodical section internet resource cell and librarian’s room.



The College library processing section is the main section in which the housekeeping operations like classification, cataloguing, bibliographic record and library user’s profiles are being generated for easy and automated circulation of the information sources. The library processing section is being equipped with computers connected in a LAN network. Koha LMS (A Library Database Management System (DBMS)) is in use in the college library for automated management of the library operations. In addition barcoding and smart ID Cards are being printed in this section.
The library has been using the Koha LMS, integrated software build and maintained by koha Community, with all the modules for the library housekeeping operations. The library Online Catalogue database has more than 15000 records of books (Bibliographic Information). Using koha OPAC, users can search the Library Online Catalogue by Author, Title, Subject, and keywords. Also, the users can know the latest additions of periodicals and books and the status of a document (whether on shelf or on issue).
Al-Anwar Library of the college follows as comprehensive collection development policy.
The college library has a diverse collection of text books and reference books. The collection include academic books, career counseling books, text books, bestseller books and novels. The department wise collection of books is as under.
