The Department of Chemistry started its working in 2017 in the College to ensure the teaching of chemistry at under graduate level. The Department ensures the rigour of academic program and the faculty strive ceaselessly, to mesh imagination and learning with creativity and innovation. The thrust is to make students open to the not always harmonious reverberations of learning, but in challenging young people to explore alternative ways of being and seeing and to always unite the language of critique with the language of possibility. The attempt is to imbue the teaching-learning process with the sensitivity that reconciles excellence with humanity, a pedagogy that can break free of rhetoric, shatter myths and rescue imaginations and intuition, using them as resources to conceive and initiate change. The faculty members are known for their expertise in research, teaching and impart practical knowledge on the different branches of the subject. Proper presentations and laboratory visits (CSIR) are organized to enhance the skills of the students.
The Department is located in College building with sufficient infrastructure to make sure teaching at UG level. The department has clicked many of the students who joined different Indian universities for M.Sc programme. Since the roll of the students is increasing day by day. Presently the Department has one permanent faculty, is carrying out student strength of around 250. The Department has well-furnished laboratory for the experimental work and one staff room. The laboratory are sophisticated and well furnished to ensure the satisfied practical work for different courses in chemistry.
The Department of chemistry was introduced in 2017 to cater the needs of the students at under graduate level in the far flung area. We offer the basic training in theoretical as well as practical aspects of chemistry as the Department has spacious and well equipped laboratory. We teach organic chemistry, Inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, Instrumentation and spectroscopic analysis at graduation level. We strive to impart the qualitative education, mentoring the students to gain necessary skills and competence to achieve success in life. Staff members always strive hard to advance their knowledge and level of competence for achieving further excellence by organizing/attending seminars, conferences and workshops. Staff members are highly qualified with post Doctorial experience in India as well as abroad. Staff members have published almost 6 books, 02 book chapters and almost 100 research papers in International Journals of chemistry like Organic Letters, Journal of Photochemistry & Photobiology B, Medicinal Chemistry research, Synthesis & Catalysis, Bioorganic Chemistry, International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, Journal of Molecular structure Spectrochemical Acta etc. The staff of the Chemistry Department is also in the reviewer board of different international journals and one of the faculties has been in issue editorial board in Frontiers in Plant sciences Journal.
