Department of Education is one of the core departments of humanities at GDC Sogam. Hundreds of students opt Education as Core and Generic subject in addition to skill based courses in Education. The department is trying hard to start an integrated course in teacher education for making the interested youth experts in teaching profession. The key concern of the department is to improve the standard of teaching and learning and to enrich the subject knowledge of the student’s. Moreover the department is playing a key role in organization of Co-curricular activities in the college so as to explore the hidden talents of the students and to provide a platform for them to express their views and to get trained for better future life.
Students concerns are always at priority in the department and no stone is left unturned for making the students to remain at ease during their stay in college. The department is trying to utilize the techniques of modern science in the field of education for making the teaching- learning process more effective and outcome based
The Department of Education, GDC Sogam, is set to lay down a strong foundational understanding of educational sciences among its students. To enable the students to understand fundamentals of educational sciences and proceed to the advanced levels is the core mission of the department. The department has a rich legacy and is one of the oldest departments of the college. The faculty of the department is committed to providing enriching learning experiences to the students to transform them into well-rounded individuals, capable of leading their lives efficiently. Students aspiring to pursue careers in education are welcome to choose education as a major and thrive in this field of intellectual pursuit. Education, as a discipline, enriches us with understanding of human learning and the conditions required for optimal learning. Among many other things, it deeply delves into what, why and how of education. Given its interdisciplinary nature, students often find it an interesting and dynamic subject. As we are a college affiliated to the University of Kashmir, we follow the syllabus of the affiliating university, which is revised regularly to meet the changing demands of the job market. Our learning experiences are structured to foster holistic student development and stimulate interest in life-long learning.
