Department Of Geology

Year of Establishment 2018

The Department of Geology started its working in 2018. The Department is situated in the earth science block of the College. The department has well established Geology Lab with all the necessary equipment like Polarizing Microscopes, Rock samples, Minerals samples, Ore samples, and raised relief maps and models. The department has 75 enrolled students with one of the subjects as Geology.

Vision:

The Geology Department is dedicated to delivering the utmost quality of education by consistently reviewing, revising, and expanding our educational, research, and outreach initiatives. Our primary goal is to cultivate highly skilled and proficient geoscientists who possess both academic and professional expertise, equipping them to effectively address the ever-evolving needs of society. Through a comprehensive approach, we aim to produce graduates who are well-prepared, competent, and capable of making significant contributions in the field of geoscience. By continuously improving and adapting our programs, we strive to meet the highest standards of education and ensure our graduates are equipped to tackle the challenges of the modern world.

Mission:

The Geology Department is committed to fostering critical thinking, enthusiasm, initiative, and lifelong learning skills in every student, with a focus on Earth Sciences. Our emphasis lies in cultivating a deep understanding of fundamental concepts and techniques through research, within an environment that nurtures the development of professionals who possess a holistic perspective encompassing social, cultural, and humanistic sensibilities, as well as strong ethical values.

By pursuing these objectives, the department actively contributes to the advancement of science and society, facilitating the creation and dissemination of new knowledge through scientific research. Our specific goals include:

HOD Message

--

We have many times failed to inform about the worst-case scenarios in the past, despite their known possible consequences on our globe and the human society in particular. We are reluctant to discuss the much-needed mitigation policies because they are miscellaneous and therefore huge. Further, the gap between the scientists has built a dent in the existent wisdom of science. We should focus more on human and scientific integration rather than solving problems by limited science. The integration of sciences is the only solution for a healthier globe and therefore social development. During stirring equivocal discussions, one should not forget the words of Benjamin Franklin, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail” nor should we forget Steven Cyros, “Remember when disaster strikes, the time to prepare has passed”. Our discussions should focus on the real science and the integration of humankind and therefore social development. The department of Geology focusses on delivering the impactful education and training skills for the benefit of societal and scientific sciences.
